As The Deer Panteth For The Waters

As the deer pants for the water brooks, So my soul pants for You, O God
Psalms 45:1

How lovely it was to see this young Whitetail deer on a special nature outing with my son.

We can learn so much from this precious animal as we apply biblical principles. The Whitetail has a great deal of self control in situations it is unsure of. In the wild, this species comes to a complete standstill assessing every possibility before making a single move. With ears strained, its highly attuned sense of hearing, smell and sight detects even the slightest change. Though seeing only black and white, the Whitetail intelligently deciphers shapes~ instantaneously detecting danger. Then up comes the white flag of warning as it bounds away for safety.

So much more can be learned from this highly intelligent animal. Just think how often we mortals leap into situations without carefully praying or waiting upon the Lord for his timing, peace, counsel and conformation as found in the Holy scriptures. How easily disillusioned one becomes as we head down paths without God's blessing. How many times have we all said to ourselves, "It is of the Lord", then later regretful after making inquiries. When will we ever learn?

My husband is very wise in this area to wait carefully upon the Lord. He is an outdoorsman and has spent a great deal of time studying and learning the lessons of the Whitetail. He is not hasty in his decisions and rarely is he caught off guard in this. Last year we again learned the lesson of the Whitetail as God so graciously spared us from falling into an unwise decision that would have cost our family dearly. It is a great lesson to learn as we observe God's creatures and apply biblical principles confirming in context as found in scripture.

Take heart or shall I say "hart", as we all are being challenged by life's lessons. Yet, God is gracious to work all things together for our good, to those who love him and are called according to his purpose. We are all given many opportunities to grow and mature~Praise The Lord.

You may ask yourself~ if you are one of those who are being "called according to his purpose". I believe that if you have a desire in your heart to know this, it is an indicator that you are being called. Jesus says that he stands at the door (of our heart) and knocks. Let him in right now and allow him to be Lord of your life? Jesus does not give up on us as we sincerely seek him. When we ask his forgiveness and allow him to be the Lord of our lives, we will find ourselves like a deer, bounding with a newness of life knowing we are now set free from the shackles of sin.

Do you feel ensnared by life's choices? You just can't seem to get free from those frustrating consequences. It pulls and weighs upon your very soul. Jesus promises to set us free. That does not mean that our circumstances will change but our hearts will be through them, as we let go and turn everything over into the Lord's hands . Those who Christ sets free, are free indeed! But we need to trust in his word~ the bible and believe in our hearts that Christ died on the cross for sins, that he was raised from the dead three days later and now sits at the right hand of God the Father. When we yield our hearts, trusting Jesus as our Savior and Lord, the biblical promise is set in motion and the plan for your life begins anew. The slate of sin is wiped off the board of your life and you become a new creature in Christ. All this is easily found in the bible and a good beginning~ is to read the book of John in the New Testament.

For those who are believers and are suffering from the hasty decisions of life, just remember Christ shakes the dust off our knees and lifts us up through our repented prayer. We are given new hope and a refreshed spirit. We need to walk in gratefulness with humility, remembering Christ's kind mercy and immeasurable love. Jesus promises never to leave us or forsake us and he is faithful and just to forgive us.

Thank you Lord, for we could never fathom such unmerited grace. It is too great to imagine.

Encourage the exhausted, and strengthen the feeble. Say to those with anxious heart, "Take courage, fear not Behold, your God will come with vengeance; The recompense of God will come, But He will save you." Then the eyes of the blind will be opened and the ears of the deaf will be unstopped. Then the lame will leap like a deer, And the tongue of the mute will shout for joy. For waters will break forth in the wilderness and streams in the Arabah.

Gifts Of The Heart

It seems odd to hold on to Christmas past but we decided to celebrate it late this season as my parents and daughter were unable to be with us for the holidays.
My mother has been battling cancer and we were not sure if she would even make it to Christmas. Our daughter was in Mexico helping her with my father while training for the home care program. We decided to postpone our celebration until they got back to the United States. What a lovely time we had celebrating the birth of Christ and the New Year together.
How thankful we were that my mother made it to our home. Today as we took down the tree, decorations in their boxes, we wrapped this special Christmas in our hearts~ giving thanks for a precious time together.

Janiveer

~Our Backyard~

Posted by Picasa...Where winter waits and watches, cold, austere,
Will lie in drifts; and when the snowdrips cheer
The woodland shadows, still the leaves are there,
Though through the glades the balmy southern air
And birds and boughs proclaim that Spring is here."
'Old Year Leaves' Mackenzie Bell
~For the Home School Mother~
Historically "January" was named from the Roman god Janus, who is represented with two faces looking in opposite directions,~as retrospective to the past, and prospective to the coming year.
I do not plan on introducing my six year old to the subject of Roman god's at this point but it is always interesting just to note a little of the origin of words and subjects.
I like these Mottoes~
"If the grass do grow in Janiveer
It grows the worse for it all the year."
"A wet January
A wet spring"
"The blackest month of all the year
Is the month of Janiveer."
Dear Friend~If you have any tidbits you would like to add, grateful reflections or thoughts God has placed upon your heart, we would love to hear them during this wonderful month of new beginnings. I am so thankful to the Lord for January, as it offers time to reflect upon what has been and prayerfully look forward to what will be.
It is so refreshing to start again. To me, the New Year brings the feeling of opening a sunny window to let all the fresh air in. It makes me feel hopeful for the future and thankful that God's mercies are new every morning.
Let us not hold on to our past mistakes but learn from them, as we embrace our appointed life lessons with humility. Let us not trick ourselves into believing we have all the answers but completely trust in the one who does~Our Lord Jesus.
~Love in Christ~Lisa

Are you a man or a moose?

"Dear Friend",
That is exactly what I will be calling you as you view my post. For I believe God sends us friends to share our lives with and that is what I am going to be sharing with you. I remember once interviewing an elderly lady for a radio program I was involved in. She had an incredible gift of inspiring others and we were trying to find her "secret of success". She told me that she never met a "stranger" only "friends". That really rang true in my heart and that is my desire too.
I pray I will be such with you.

I thought to open my first post with some humor~for that is probably what I enjoy the most.
A good laugh~ especially with my family and friends~ along with being inspired by the beauty of God's creations all around me. I feel so grateful to take in such glory and it is a challenge to show accurately what I have been so blessed to see. It is my desire to develop a clearer vision of what I aspire through film or photography and to pass on nuggets of Christ's life lessons learned to those who have open hearts and a willingness to hear.
I realize that creation in itself has a fallen nature which cannot hold it's beauty forever but I do desire to visually share~ that by looking around and taking in it's wonder~ one can see the handprint of God.
