Let's Clean House

We all need to find ways to lighten our burdens and refocus our resolve when life challenges come our way. Stress can be emotionally and physically draining when one is overwhelmed and it is important to find ways to constructively turn it around and accomplish something good through it all. It will lift the weary heart, bring clarity to mind, give energy back and bring order out of chaos.

I plan to write a series on "cleaning house" so to speak from a metaphorical perspective as well as physical. I believe it is important to seasonally clean our inner dwellings as well as our material households. We need to check for attitudes that may express one has “arrived” or beyond personal growth. Our "arrival" time will finale when we enter through glory's gate then we will be free at last. Mature Christian’s deeply and humbly understand this though it is easy to forget from whence they came especially after receiving great personal growth in the Lord.

Let us throw back the dusty drapes and let the light of Christ shine through our wintered windows. With God's grace we will enter from glory to glory, honoring him in every nook and cranny of our lives. I love these words my daughter Seanna wrote when she was 18 about this very idea.

“Throw back the drape of self-absorption,

That dims the room of needs unshown,

And let the light of true perception…

Reveal their face, that they be known.”

~ Author Seanna Hollinger

I hope to write this as a series and show you my Spring cleaning as I am able. I will share with you what God is teaching me through it and perhaps encourage you in the process. God will make beauty from ashes in every area of your life and I pray this will inspire you that you are not alone in this difficult yet rewarding challenge. We all need to let God's grace cleanse our inner dwelling and let him rearrange our furnishings if need be. Let us not give up just because we have made the same mistakes over and over again or when it seems we will never see lasting changes. So keep checking back as we "clean house" together!
